When Google Guidelines and screen reader accessibility collide…

The DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION ACT 1992 – says Australian websites must be accessible to all, including screen reader users.Many major sites use CSS to position content “off page” for screen readers. Google says “If your site is perceived to contain hidden text and links that are deceptive in intent, your site may be removed from the Google index, and will not appear in search results pages.”
How will Google interpret your “intent” if you hide text in accordance with “best practice accessibility”? Is it time for Google to change its guidelines and clarify this issue??
